Government Funding
For Exercise Physiology
ActiveRx provides Exercise Physiology services, funded through a range of Australian government programs. These services are designed to support people managing injury, chronic conditions, and long-term health needs, with care delivered by Accredited Exercise Physiologists under the relevant funding and referral requirements.
Funding Options

Medicare-funded exercise physiology is available with a GP referral under a Chronic Disease Management Plan, covering up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year (shared across eligible providers). A Medicare rebate applies, with any remaining gap discussed upfront.

NDIS exercise physiology can be funded where it aligns with a participant’s goals around function, mobility, and independence. The number of sessions depends on the individual’s NDIS plan, funding category, and goals, with services delivered in line with plan budgets.

DVA exercise physiology is available to eligible veterans with a GP referral for an accepted condition. Session numbers are determined by clinical need under DVA arrangements, with ActiveRx able to communicate directly with referrers as required.

WorkCover-funded exercise physiology supports rehabilitation following a workplace injury or illness. Approval, session numbers, and duration vary by insurer and claim, and services are provided in line with the approved treatment plan.

My Aged Care exercise physiology supports older adults to maintain strength, balance, and mobility. Services and session availability depend on the individual’s My Aged Care package and approval level, with programs focused on safety and independence.

Exercise physiology may be claimable through private health insurance using HICAPS, depending on your level of cover. Rebates and annual limits vary by fund and policy, with claims processed at the time of appointment.
